Guelph Welcomes a New Medical Imaging Center, Offering Advanced Diagnostics
A much-needed medical resource is coming to Guelph, and it's already creating a buzz in the community. Frontier Diagnostics, a state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging facility, is set to open its doors on February 17th, offering a range of services to enhance local healthcare options.
The center is now accepting bookings for various procedures, including X-rays, bone mineral density tests, ultrasounds, and mammograms. Located at 649 Scottsdale Drive, this 5,000-square-foot facility has been swiftly constructed and will be staffed by a team of five radiologists, three technologists, and two front desk staff.
Dr. Zafir Syed, one of the five owners and a diagnostic radiologist, emphasized the importance of this investment in Guelph's healthcare infrastructure. "We recognize the strain on our healthcare resources, and this facility aims to provide much-needed support." But here's where it gets interesting: the owners have ambitious plans for the future.
While the current focus is on providing excellent service from day one, Dr. Syed hinted at potential expansion, ensuring they can accommodate growing demand. The center has already started booking patients, and the response has been encouraging.
X-ray patients can expect minimal wait times, and Frontier Diagnostics even accepts walk-ins for this service. However, the story is different for ultrasounds and mammograms, where wait times in Ontario can be a concern.
"Wait times can fluctuate significantly, from weeks to months, depending on various factors," Dr. Syed explained. This delay in diagnosis can have serious consequences for patients. Currently, ultrasound wait times at Frontier Diagnostics are around one week.
The facility's location is strategic, situated alongside the Guelph Family Health Team, a medical lab, and other healthcare providers, offering patients convenient access to comprehensive care.
Dr. Syed and his team are eager to engage with the community.
