This includes 1,200 100-kWh battery packs, designed for older Nio models, and over 3,000 102-kWh battery packs, which power the company’s newer vehicles. And this is the part most people miss: Nio’s December deliveries hit an all-time high of 48,135 vehicles, surpassing its previous record of 40,397 units in October. This remarkable achievement was largely driven by the stellar performance of the third-generation ES8, which propelled Nio brand deliveries to a record 31,897 units—marking the first time the brand exceeded the 30,000-unit milestone. Meanwhile, Onvo, Nio’s sub-brand, has been making strides in its own battery doubling initiative. On December 5, Onvo announced plans to deploy over 8,000 new battery packs, with completion expected by mid-January 2026. As of today, Onvo has already put its 6,000th new battery pack into service, achieving 75% completion of its ambitious plan. Since the initiative began, Onvo has deployed over 2,600 additional battery packs, showcasing its commitment to addressing battery shortages.

Speaking of shortages, both Nio and Onvo have faced challenges in recent months due to the strong sales of the third-generation ES8 and Onvo L90 large electric SUVs. During the initial launch of these models, Nio Inc prioritized allocating battery packs for vehicle production over deployment to battery swap stations. Currently, Nio operates 3,677 battery swap stations in China, the majority of which are accessible to Onvo. The addition of new battery packs could be partly aimed at preparing for the Chinese New Year holiday from February 15 to February 23, ensuring seamless service during this busy period.

In the fourth quarter, Nio Inc delivered 124,807 vehicles, nearly reaching the upper limit of its guidance range of 120,000 to 125,000 units.
